We are pleased to share that Halton Libraries are able to provide free packed lunches for children at Widnes Library and Halton Lea Library during the summer holidays.
Starting on 22nd July until 26th August 2026, Widnes Library and Halton Lea Library will be distributing free lunch bags every Wednesday from 12pm-1pm.*
To ensure the suitability of the food and drink items contained within each lunch bag, the contents are outlined below:
- · 1 x individually wrapped sandwich (ham or cheese)
- · 1 x portion of fruit (banana, apple or tangerine)
- · 1 x packet of biscuits
- · 1 x packet of crisps
- · 1 x bottle of still water
All items, excluding piece of fruit, are individually wrapped and ingredients are listed on each individual item.
If you require any further information or would like a packed lunch but have dietary requirements, please ring the library on 0151 511 7744. We politely ask that you give us at least 24 hours’ notice to ensure we can try to source a suitable alternative.
These lunches form part of our weekly Booknic event, where we’ll be encouraging families to have a picnic with a book in the library. Grab your free lunch bag, make yourself comfortable on our picnic blankets, browse our baskets of books and read together!
