Wednesday 25th March, Widnes Library
Arrival: from 1pm / Talk: 2-4pm
The Halton Libraries’ collection of railway books is returning to the shelves at Widnes Library. To celebrate, we have invited The Trainhill Trust to talk about their ambitious project.
A new home is needed in Rainhill for the history and artefacts of The Rainhill Locomotive Trials of 1829. The Trust has secured a lease on the disused side of the Rainhill Station building next to the LMR line where the original trials took place.
Come and hear how the Trust plans to turn that into a bespoke museum before the 200th anniversary in Oct 2029. There will also be an opportunity to browse the books from the collection, prior to the talk from 1pm.
Refreshments provided.
