Commencing Monday 18th September, Widnes Library will undergo refurbishment works. This is part of a council-wide asset review in order to maximise spaces within council buildings and minimise the amount the council spends on rent each year.
This will also give us the opportunity to reclaim use of unused spaces within the library, including the coffee bar area and meeting room 1 both of which have been empty for over 18 months.
It will also enable Widnes Library to become a future-proofed library with flexible shelving and bring it on brand alongside our other 3 library buildings.
We endeavour to maintain a basic level of library service provision throughout the project, so access to pcs and books from all sections will be maintained but at times this may be limited. However, the library will not need to close fully at any stage.
We will have limited stock available, so if you cannot find what you would like on our shelves please ask a member of staff as we can reserve items at other libraries free of charge.
This blog will be updated on a regular basis to keep library users in the loop with the progress of the refurb.
