Work began on Monday 18th September on the Widnes library refurbishment project. The ground floor area from the old café bar to the teen area is currently closed off to the public whilst builders are on site. The first week has been a productive week, with all the old shelving removed from site and the old café bar area ripped out too. The café bar area will have PCs fitted around the outside and shelving units in the middle. The main task this week for the contractors is laying down new carpet tiles.
The temporary library space has worked well so far, with a temporary children’s events space set up in the foyer area. All of our activities are continuing business as usual throughout the project. The library space is currently only accessible through the main front entrance, not through the side doors on St Paul’s Road. Don’t forget that if you can’t find the book you are looking for, we may be able to get it for you from another library. Just ask a member of staff.
